Meet Sallie Harrell, Executive Director

Guiding Growth, Shaping a Community
Camden, SC native, Sallie Harrell has been the Executive Director of the Health Services District of Kershaw County since December 2016. Prior to assuming the Executive Director role, she worked as a Program Manager in the Bureau of Health Regulations at the Department of Public Health (DPH), formerly DHEC. Harrell is a graduate of Camden High School, Wofford College, and holds a Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of South Carolina. She is actively involved in the Kershaw County community as the President of the Camden Rotary Club, member of the Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, member of the Board of Directors of the Arts Center, and proudly serves on various other committees and affiliations.
Harrell is proud to contribute to the shared mission of the Health Services District of Kershaw County, working to provide high-quality services while playing a key role in the development of Beechwood Life Plan Community, located in Camden, SC. Beechwood will be the first of its kind in Kershaw County, designed for forward-thinking individuals who value an active lifestyle, a vibrant social environment, and the peace of mind that comprehensive care and support are available on-site if needed.
On her new post, Harrell says, “I am honored to be a part of another historic moment for Camden, SC; talking with the citizens of Kershaw County and the surrounding areas, many have shared how excited they are that Beechwood will offer an option for older adults to age with vitality in a community within a city they know and love.”
In her free time, Harrell likes to travel with her family, read, and play outside with her family that includes husband, Chris, and children, Hudson and Gibbs. Harrell is also a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden.
